About

For almost two decades, Linda Harper Brown has established herself as one of our most valued advocates for Irving families and businesses. Whether she’s helping our kids on the Irving Schools Foundation, working with our Chamber of Commerce to attract new business or protecting taxpayers in the Texas House, Linda’s passion for Irving is unmatched.

You could say that Linda’s enthusiasm for our hometown is a family tradition since her great-great-grandfather, Ike Story, was a founding father of Irving and the namesake for Story Road.

Often called the “hardest working leader in Irving,” Rep. Harper Brown brought her work ethic to Austin where she quickly became one of North Texas’ most effective leaders, passing legislation that helps families, schools, small businesses and taxpayers.

Our community is fortunate to have a great leader like State Representative Linda Harper Brown. She is strong enough to keep our taxes low when so many others call for higher taxes and independent enough to stand up to members of both political parties when their policies hurt Irving families and businesses.

The fact is Linda Harper Brown is most comfortable back home, working side-by-side with small business owners, teachers and thousands more who work every day to make Irving a better place.

There is no better resume to lead for our interests in Austin. For more examples of Linda’s advocacy and accolades click here. And, click here for her legacy of leadership.

Legacy of Leadership Linda Harper Brown

Highlights of Linda's Tenure in the Texas House include:

  • Reducing the punitive Margins Tax for Texas’ small businesses – the same tax she opposed in 2005 – freeing up billions of dollars that can be used to hire new employees and spur badly-needed economic growth.
  • Cutting wasteful spending to help balance budget shortfalls in Austin earning her the “Taxpayer Champion” and “Top 25 Fiscal Conservative” awards by Texans For Fiscal Responsibility, our state’s leading tax watchdog group.
  • Providing new funds to help better educate our schoolchildren, and higher salaries and better retirement benefits for Texas teachers.
  • Cracking down on waste and mismanagement by TxDOT and forcing DART to uphold their promises to Irving.
